This is a list of the best films I’ve ever seen as of 2005. I think this list illustrates most of the greatest American films of all time, and some of the great foreign ones. Of course I have not seen every movie, so the list will never be finished. But I plan to keep adding to it to make it as up to date as possible. Our candidate for the greatest film ever is Citizen Kane. Every time I see this movie, it works: it pulls me into the story of Kane, his rise to power, the incredible speeches, and his downfall. Amazingly, at the age of twenty-five, Orson Welles wrote, directed and starred in this masterpiece. For number two, we have Vertigo, the greatest mystery story of all time directed by the greatest director of all time, the Master, Alfred Hitchcock. And, number three all time, no film has memorable scenes like The Godfather, and the movie the greatest epic of all time. A masterpiece that always draws you into their sick world, and somehow manages to make you feel sorry for them These three movies are just outstanding and really illustrate how effective movies can actually be if they want to. I viewed Citizen Kane on October 2nd of 2004 for the first time.
